Thank you to all the participants for use of their clips in this promo video.
The all volunteer team at Southwest Crawlfest would like to say thank you to all of the volunteers, vendors, and participants for making the 2010 event our largest and most successful event to date. Your comments and thanks have been great to receive after many months of tireless planning.
“Well, Lets all of us just sit back and think about this with a clear head for a minute. Could this possibly have been all that great? Maybe we are remembering it wrong.
Sure, the weather was almost perfect, a little cool at first but nice. Sure, the trails were awesome and tough and the scenery was from a picture postcard. Sure, the event was free, FREE, FREE (and some of us really appreciated that right now). Sure, every single person working the event was friendly and helpful. Sure, a few vehicles got smooshed (sorry Gulliver) and quite a few broke axles, drivelines, suspensions and such but that shows how close we were to the limits of our vehicles, our skills and our luck on these awesome trails. Sure, the trail leaders, mid gunners and tail gunners were top notch. No lives were lost and everyone got off the mountain, eventually. Sure, the food was at least twice as good as the Hump-n-Bumps but maybe it’s just my fondness for BBQ and Dutch oven potatoes. Sure, they just about thought of everything including porta-potties, wash stations and a generator with lights that you could probably see from outer space. Sure, they had photographers, cameramen, news crews, a legendary retired weatherman and motorized lifts and an airplane to take those off-road shots that you just can’t get from ground level. Sure, they had a huge raffle with tons of great things that I could use. Sure, my hard earned $200.00 in raffle tickets went to a great cause and only reaped Liz and me about $1,700.00 worth of items (Mostly from Nemesis Industries) and they are going to look and work great on my TJ. (thanks’ Nemesis, you guys are awesome).
But….
Where was Inga with my Swedish back massage, and the tiny Oriental gal to rub my feet after a long day of wheeling. Where’s the person to peel grapes and feed them to me one at a time like in ancient Rome?
Perhaps next year?” ~ Jeff Jorgensen – Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers
We can always do better. We have discussed and digested the great input and suggestions from many of our participants and volunteers and will be implementing many of the changes to help the event run smoother and to better accommodate the growth in participation.
The volunteers at Crawlfest spend their time and efforts in building, promoting and running this event for one reason. – To help keep access to public lands. We are encouraged to see the tremendous growth and overwhelming turnout at this years event. We ask one thing as you relish in the fun of this event. Please get involved. Be it through joining BRC, U4WDA or other land use groups or donating your time and money. Your efforts help, your voice makes a difference.
If you would like to be involved as a trail leader, trail gunner or volunteer in any other capacity please contact us at southwestcrawlfest@gmail.com. We will be making monthly volunteer trail runs all year and would love to have you!
Thank you all for attending. We look froward to seeing you again next year. And Jeff, we will work on getting Inga to attend.
