Let the carnage begin! Buggy territory. Street driven 4X4’s should not attempt this trail. Modified factory vehicles will not be able to complete this trail.

Description

The first 10 Buggies to sign up get first shot, if the trail leader does not approve your vehicle it will not be allowed on the trail. Monster ledges and boulders together with unforgiving waterfalls and off camber situations make this trail nearly impassable in the best of conditions. Bring parts and have fun.

Description

John’s Trail brings together all that is great about wheelin’ in St George. Big ledges, big waterfalls and tricky off camber climbs make this trail technical and interesting from beginning to end. The trail follows a dry wash up through soft sand and over large waterfalls. One of the big waterfalls has a tricky off camber approach. It may look easy at first glance but listen to the trail leader and your spotter so you don’t end up on your lid. This trail is one obstacle after another and will really test your suspension. Body damage and rollovers are possible even likely with less experienced drivers. This is definitely no Sunday drive.

Roads are difficult with considerable erosion damage repaired just enough to be passable. Water in excess of 12″ is possible with mud conditions. Steps not exceeding 24″. Tall tires (33″ plus) with traction added devices (lockers, limited slips) are recommended. A winch would be a plus. Enhanced suspension travel and ground clearance are helpful. Excellent driving skills are recommended. This trail is in a fee area (the fee is waived for this event) and flags are required.

Description

Challenging run with some tough obstacles, some obstacles have a bypass. Trail ends at the sand dunes. A nice trail to stretch your legs and driving abilities. Most of the difficult obstacles are bypassable and if they are not do not hold much risk of roll over. A great trail to learn your rigs upper limit abilities without high penance. Nice views of Pine Valley Mountain and Sand Hollow Reservoir. This trail has sand, rocks, ledges, waterfalls and more. A quintessential southern Utah trail.

Description

This is trail is the most popular and will have a limit on group size. Trail has a lot of slick rock and some nice challenges up the Fault Line Trail. The West Rim Trail has many obstacles but ends with many great obstacles at the Rock Garden. Bypasses are available for most of the difficult obstacles. We will add additional trails depending on weather conditions and time. Adjacent trails include West Rim and the Rock Garden.

Rated: 4 Description: Steep and narrow trail with off camber sections. This is a really scenic drive that gives you the chance to see Southern Utah's majestic views and landscapes.

Rated: 3

Trail is mostly on graded county roads. There are a few sections of steep narrow trails that are rocky, but not particularly difficult. One off-camber section can be unnerving to those that have problems with heights. This trail is suitable for stock 4×4 vehicles. No special equipment required. Please make sure you have a full tank of fuel and that your spare tire is in good condition. The roads on the Arizona Strip can be very treacherous and sometimes impassable in extremely wet conditions and if that is the case then alternate routes may be used.

Description

We head south out of Hurricane tell we reach the Arizona border where we turn east up the dugway that roughly follows the route of the Honeymoon Trail through the Hurricane Cliffs. This is the most difficult section of road that we will travel during the day, steep and narrow. On top, we follow the Honeymoon Trail south for a few miles, but then continue south tell we come to the Navajo Trail. From there we start west and go back down through the Hurricane Cliffs. At the bottom we take a trail north that roughly follows the Temple Trail and Dominguez/Escalante route back towards the towns of Hurricane and St. George. We will pass through Black Rock Canyon where the trail is very narrow in places. We have the option of returning either by way of Warner Valley or back they way we came in depending on time constraints.Make sure you bring a lunch as we will be out all day.

Highlights

Some amazing scenery in every direction. The view from the top of the Honeymoon Trail can be extraordinary. The Honeymoon Trail is an historic route used by the Mormon pioneers to travel from the Arizona settlements to St. George. The Temple Trail was use to haul timbers from Mt Trumbull to St. George for the building of the St. George Temple. The Dominguez/Escalante Trail is part of the route used in the 1776 exploration of the area by the Spanish priests. We visit portions of all these trails with an incredible amount of history behind them. Part of the original dugway used by wagons is still visible on the Honeymoon Trail. Places we will visit in the Arizona Strip are very remote and wild. You can really appreciate what life was like back in the 19th century.
